In a rare opportunity, the Worthing Extra Time Project students recently had a chance to sit down and chat with the Madam Mayor of Worthing. The meeting took place in the council chamber, where the students were able to learn all about the rich history of the building, as well as the inner workings of a typical council meeting.

The Madam Mayor provided an informative and engaging presentation to the group, sharing her insights on the various roles and responsibilities of local government officials. The students were particularly fascinated by the intricate details of how the council chamber operates, and the importance of adhering to strict rules and protocols during meetings.

The highlight of the visit was undoubtedly when the students were invited to dress up as the Mayor and try on the regalia. Donning the impressive robes and chain of office, the young visitors were thrilled to experience a taste of what it feels like to hold such an esteemed position.
